Életrajz
 

Alessio Elia, akit az új zeneszerzőgeneráció egyik legeredetibb szerzőjeként említenek több helyen, (la Repubblica, Universal Music Publishing, Universal Edition, Muzsika, Radio Vaticana, RAI Radio 3, Die Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung) nemzetközi képzést szerzett, hiszen Olaszországon kívül Magyarországon és Németországban is tanult zeneszerzést.

Legfontosabb felkérései: a Bartók Rádió ArTRIUM kortárs zenei sorozata számára készült Trasparenze című nagyzenekari darab;
az Alter Ego Ensemble - Manuel Zurria, Francesco Dillon, Emanuele Torquati - felkérésére készülő L'impermanenza della Memoria (Ligeti 100 Festival) mely Eötvös Peter, Toshio Hosokawa, Peter Ablinger, Lukas Ligeti, Sáry László és Howard Skempton egy-egy darabjának társaságában kerül bemutatásra; az Impronta ensemble (Traces from Nowhere) felkérése, melyet a luganoi Oggimusica Festiválon mutattak be, UMZE (Ekpyrotic suicide), Wiener Collage - Wiener Philharmoniker (Outskirts of matter), Stuttgart Kammerchor (Incantesimi di Merseburg), vagy az Octet, mely az I Solisti della Scala di Milano számára készült és amely 2018-ban jelent meg CD-n a Warner Classics gondozásában, Andrea Vitello vezényletével. A mű kottakiadója pedig az Editio Musica - Universal Music Publishing.

Zeneszerzőként és kutatóként dolgozott a LFZE-n, a Debreceni Egyetemen, a kecskeméti Kodály Intézetben, a bázeli Sacher Alapítványnál, valamint Oslóban a Zeneakadémián, ahol 2010-ben zeneszerzést is tanított.

Műveit bemutatták Európa számos koncerttermében és fesztiváljain, (pl. Auditorium Parco della Musica; Filarmonica Romana,
Roma; Menuhin Festival, Oslo; Levinsalen és Lindemansalen, Oslo; Forum Neue Musik – Palais Priz Carl; Mannheimer Kunstverein; Arnold Schoenberg Center Wien; LAC - Lugano Arte e Cultura Auditorium; Budapest Music Center; Művészetek Palotája; Magyar Rádió, Budapest; az Auditorium del Parco di Renzo Piano in L'Aquila; Oggimusica Festival, Lugano; Yamaha Concert Hall Wien; CAFe - Contemporary Arts Festival Budapest; Festival Nuova Consonanza - Róma; Dresden Kulturpalast, stb) és játszotta őket több televízió, rádióadó is (többek között a Bartók Rádió, a Magyar Televízió, a Duna TV, a Saarländischer Rundfunk, a RAI Radio 3 Suite, a RAI Cultura, a Radio Vaticana).   

Munkásságáról több interjúban is beszámolt, többek között a Magyar Televízióban és a Duna TV-n, a Bartók Radióban, a RAI Radio 3-ben; a Radio Vaticana-n, a Dal+Szerzőben, a Muzsikában, a Musica + című olasz szakfolyóiratban, a Eötvös Péter Alapítványnak.

2008-ban a Magyar Televízió egy interjú-filmet készített vele, A Varázsló Halála című operájával kapcsolatban, mely Csáth Géza életén és munkásságán alapul.

Zeneszerzői és zongoraművészi tevékenységén kívül aktív kutatómunkát is folytat, számos kortárszenei konferencián vett részt előadóként Európa-szerte, melyek közül a legfontosabbak: a "Ligeti und die Mikrotonalität" címmel Ligeti munkatársa, Louise Duchesneau és Paul Griffiths, Ligeti első életrajzírója vezetésével rendezett hamburgi Ligeti Szimpózium, a párizsi Cité de la
Musique - Centre de documentation de la musique contemporaine; Osloi Zeneakadémia; Aula der Universität Schloss, Mannheim; Magyar Művészeti Akadémia; Internationales Musikinstitute Darmstadt; Accademia Filarmonica Romana; Accademia Chigiana in Siena; Canal C2 - Université de Strasbourg;  Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Mannheim; University of Performing Arts Prague).

2006 óta tíz szerzői estje volt Osloban, Rómában, Budapesten és Mannheimben. A fontosabb helyszínek: a budapesti Olasz Intézet Verdi terme, az Alessio Elia, Ivan Fedele és Luciano Berio műveit bemutató kortárs zenei fesztivál keretén belül; Lindemansalen, Levinsalen; Accademia Filarmonica Romana - a "She Lives" Alessio Elia, Eötvös Péter és Jeney Zoltán műveit bemutató fesztiváljának keretein belül; Kammermusiksaal Hochschule Mannheim.

Az Elia-művek különböző intonációs rendszereket foglalnak magukban. Ezt a folyamatot a szerző "polisistemismo"-nak (többrendszerűségnek) nevezi, amelyet több konferencián is bemutatott, többek között a párizsi Cité de la musique-ben, 2014 novemberében. Ennek az irányzatnak a legfontosabb művei: Beyond Perturbative States, Conifold transitions, Traces from Nowhere és a Rejtett Dimenziók, valamint a Trasparenze című nagyzenekari művek.
A polisistemismotéma témájában a német von Bockel Verlag kiadó, a l'Université de Strasbourg, a Magyar Művészeti Akadémia és a Prágai Egyetem publikált cikkeket és esszéket. Polisistemismoja a luganói Olasz Svájc Zeneakadémiáján diplomamunka tárgya volt.

Számos díjat nyert. 2005-ben Luminescences cimű munkájával elnyerte az Accademia Chigiana díját. 2013-ban a Rejtett dimenziók című darab első helyezést ért el az UMZF Ligeti György emlékének szentelt zeneszerzőversenyén, ahol Eötvös Péter volt a zsűri elnöke.  
Labyrinthum continui című zenekari darabja megkapta a "Leibniz's Harmonies" díjat, 2016-ban.

Ligeti: Hamburgi Koncert revíziója, amelyet Alessio Elia zeneszerző  készített, az Edition Impronta által kiadott The Hamburgisches Konzert by György Ligeti" (Ligeti György Hamburgi koncertje) című könyvben jelent meg. A mű első  átdolgozott előadására a Concerto Budapest – Ligeti Ensemble  előadásában Zempléni Szabolcs kürt szólójával a Budapest Music  Centerben került sor, a zeneszerző születésének századik évfordulója  alkalmából megrendezett a Ligeti 100 Fesztivál keretében.


Alessio Elia 1979-ben született Rómában.
Több Európai nagyváros (Oslo, Odense, Berlin, Debrecen, Mannheim) jelenleg Budapesten és Rómában él.

Olasz állampolgársága mellett 2021-től már magyar állampolgár is.


 
TANULMÁNYOK

Tanulmányait Olaszországban kezdte, a Conservatorio Santa Cecilia-ban Giovanni Piazza professzornál, majd az Accademia Nazionale di Santa Ceciliaban és az Accademia Chigiana-n. Budapesten a Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetemen Jeney Zoltánnál tanult, majd Németországban folytatta tanulmányait (az Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt-on Georg Friedrich Haas-nál, Brian Ferneyhough-nál és Toshio Hosokawa-nál.)
Későbbi munkája szempontjából is jelentős a norvég zeneszerzőhöz, Lasse Thoresenéhez fűződő kapcsolata. A mannheimi Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst-on a Ligeti-tanítvány Sidney Corbettnél doktorált.  
2012-ben szerzett doktori címet summa cum laude a római "Tor Vergata" Egyetemen. Doktori disszertációját Ligeti Hamburgisches Konzert-jéről írta, mely az első igazán részletes esszé a témában.

Works as musical assistant to the direction of the Tv director Enrico Castiglione, during the concerts of the Euro Mediterraneo Festival conducted by Lorin Maazel with the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra of Parma.

In February starts to write the Libretto of Géza (named later La Morte del Mago – The Magician’s Death), Opera based on the life
and the artistic activity of the Hungarian writer Géza Csáth.

composition under the guidance of Brian Ferneyhough, Toshio Hosokawa and Georg Friedrich Haas.

Writes for this circumstance joujoux séduisants (2004/2005), part of Opium, second opera of the trilogy Il Doppio Confine di Csáth (The Double Border of Csáth) .

He graduates in Composition (first level degree - Bachelor) in October with full marks and laude.
The degree’s thesis is Géza, opera based on the life and the artistic activity of the Hungarian writer Géza Csáth [first version of the  opera La Morte del Mago – (The Magician’s Death)].

Since October starts researches at the Liszt Academy of Music.

L’altro volto della scuola di Darmstadt : Messiaen, Ligeti (The other face of the Darmstadt School: Messiaen, Ligeti).
The book is about those aspects that are very far from the serialism, integral serialism and structuralism, features usually connected to the Darmstadt School and offers another point of view of the very famous Ferienkurse. The choice of Messiaen and  Ligeti, as prominent figures, comes from the necessity to focalize on those languages that can explain better the proposed subject.

Conference about his opera The Magician’s Death (based on the life and artistic activity of the Hungarian writer Géza Csáth).

In February he completes with full marks the postgraduate studies in composition at the Hochschule für Musik Mannheim, studying with Sidney Corbett.

In the number of July, "Muzsika" publishes a very positive critic by Szabolcs Molnár of Elia's orchestral piece "Trasparenze".

In the number MMXIV/I (March) "Dal Szerző" (the official magazine of the Hungarian Bureau for the Protection of Authors' Rights) publishes a long interview with Elia, realized by Marcell Németh.

In the concert programme of the Eighth Portrait Concert dedicated to Elia, the Italian critic Guido Barbieri writes a very positive and original interpretation of the sound and music of Elia.

On 2nd June the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica" realised an interview with Péter Eötvös talking about Elia's music.

On 10 February the German newspaper "Die Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung" publishes the announcement of the second German performance of "Dimensioni nascoste" (Versteckte Dimensionen).

On 13 February the German newspaper "Die Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung" publishes an enthusiastic review of the second German performance of "Dimensioni nascoste" (Versteckte Dimensionen).

On 13 February the German newspaper "Mannheimer Morgen" publishes an enthusiastic review of the first German performance
of "Dimensioni nascoste" (Versteckte Dimensionen).

On 14 April he is interviewed by Szabolcs Molnár in a programme of the Hungarian "Klub Rádió".

On 28 April appears in "9 Colonne" (the official National Italian Newspaper of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) an enthusiastic review of Elia's music.

On 10 May appears in "PlayLiszt" a very positive critic and review by Szabolcs Molnár of the 7th Portrait Concert dedicated to
Alessio Elia's music. The concert was held at Sala Verdi of the Italian Institute of Culture in Budapest within the concert series "Contemporanea", a three-concert festival dedicated to Ivan Fedele, Luciano Berio and Alessio Elia.

THEORETICAL WORKS
On May 28, 2023, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of György Ligeti, Elia's book The "Hamburgisches Konzert" by György Ligeti has been released, the most exhaustive and complete analysis on this work.
Published by Edition Impronta, the book includes the complete revision of the  score and the correction of the numerous errors (over 300) present in the printed score, including instrumental parts, and in the manuscript.
Two unpublished movements of the Concerto, found by Alessio Elia at the  Sacher Foundation (Ligeti Collection), together with all the preparatory   sketches are published for the first time in the book.
On the same date (May, 28, 2023) the first performance of the Hamburgisches Konzert based on Alessio Elia's revision took place at the Budapest Music Center, with the Concerto Budapest Ligeti Ensemble conducted by Peter Eötvös.
